Itu judul aslinya dari buku karya Dale Carnegie. (Who else ? :D)

Kebetulan buku yang gw baca adalah buku lama dan tua sepeninggalan bokap. Banyak banget sih buku tua klasik yang beliau punya. Dari beragam topic, dan kebanyakan juga adalah buku-buku best-seller dimasanya. Jadi buku klasik yang ‘tahan lama’ hingga sekarang, dalam arti kata buku-buku tersebut masih dicari hingga sekarang ini. 

So I read How To Enjoy Your Life and Your Work. Buku ini sebenarnya merupakan karya terpilih gabungan dari dua buku Dale Carnegie sebelumnya, yaitu How to Stop Worrying and Start Living juga How to Friends and Influence People. Wow, yummy. Good selections from good books from good author. 

Di buku ini ada poin-poin dari masing buku, Rules from How to Stop Worrying and Start Living :

1.      Do not imitate others.

2.      Apply these four good working habits :

·    Clear your desk of all papers except those relating to the immediate problem at hand.

·     Do things in the order of their importance.

·    When you face a problem, solve it then and there if you have the facts necessary to make a decision.

·     Learn to organize, deputize, and supervise.

3.      Learn to relax at your work.

4.      Put enthusiasm into your work.

5.      Count your blessings – not your troubles.

6.      Remember that unjust criticism is often a disguided compliment.

7.      Do the very best you can.

Rules from How to Win Friends and Influence People :

1.      Don’t critize, condemn, or complain.

2.      Give honest, sincere appreciation.

3.      Arouse in the other person an eager want.

4.      Become genuinely interested in other people.

5.      Make the other person feel important – and do it sincerely.

6.      Show respect for the other man’s opinions. Never tell a man he is wrong.

7.      Begin in a friendly way.

8.      Get the other person saying “yes, yes”immediately.

9.      Let the other fellow feel the idea is his.

10.  Appeal to the nobler motives.

11.  Call attention to people mistakes indirectly.

12.  Talk about your mistakes before criticizing the other person.

13.  Ask questions instead of giving direct orders.

14.  Let the other man save his face.

Setahu gw buku ini masih jarang, tapi yang How to Win Friends and Influence People termasuk masih ada di pasaran. Yang jelas juga, buku-buku Dale Carnegie termasuk jaminan mutu-lah meskipun karyanya adalah karya-karya tahun jebot :D
